Corporate Logos
These guidelines are based on rules and regulations issued by The
University of Texas Board of Regents and on the policies of the
University of
Texas Office
of Trademark Licensing. The information below is our best effort to
interpret these rules. In all cases, the original system guidelines take
precedence over these guidelines.
Recognizing Corporate Sponsors
When private corporations support school events through participation of speakers or underwriting the costs of an event, you may recognize this support on publications, promotional items and the Web. However, the guidelines vary depending upon the type of use and the type of organization (student organization or official department, program or center).

Naming Events
For student organization events, the university or school name may not be used. “McCombs Finance Challenge” is not okay, but “Finance Challenge at McCombs” and "Deloitte Consulting Challenge at McCombs" are okay. When McCombs or the university name is placed after the event name it denotes the factual location of the event rather a co-branded event name.
Promotional Items (such as T-shirts, caps, pens and other give-away items.)
Advertisements for and co-branding with corporate sponsors are not allowed at the university. Corporate logos may not be used on promotional items that use McCombs or university logos. Stylistic representations of McCombs or university logos are also not allowed.
When recognizing sponsors on promotional materials, it is best to list the company name (instead of their logo). The sponsor's name should be the same size, color, typeface as the rest of the statement. Verbiage such as "Special thanks to ...., Thanks to our sponsors ...." is appropriate.
Departments/programs may use corporate logos with the university or McCombs
name (not logo) when the name is used in a “factual” manner, not as a
trademark or trademarked phrase or integrated with a corporate logo or
design. For example, listing the university as a location of an event,
with a date is allowed. The text must be the same as other event
information on the item.
When corporate logos are allowed (see above), they may not be presented
in a manner that indicates a partnership between the university and a
sponsor. Design elements that integrate the corporate logo with the
university or school name will not be approved.
If no university or McCombs official logo is used, your item does not require approval or review by either Communications or Trademark Licensing. You are not required to use a licensed vendor, but you must use a vendor in good standing if university funds are used for payment.
Registered student organizations may not use official university or McCombs logos or corporate logos on promotional items. This includes items of apparel, such as T-shirts, caps, etc. Student organizations may use the university and McCombs name in a "factual" manner. For example, listing the university as a location of an event is allowed.
To recognize sponsors on promotional materials, use the company name
(instead of their logo). The sponsor name should be the same size, color
and typeface as the rest of
the statement. Verbiage such as "Special thanks to ...., Thanks to our
sponsors ...." is appropriate.
If no university or McCombs official logo is used, your item does not
require approval or review by either Communications or Trademark
Licensing. You are not required to used a
licensed vendor, but you must use a

good standing if university funds are used for payment.
Feel free to contact the Communications Office of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs with any questions you may have, regardless of whether trademark approval is required.
Publications/Printed Materials
Student Organizations and Departments/Programs
Corporate logos
may be used on printed materials (fliers, brochures, programs, etc.) provided that the event or program is
supported by a McCombs program/department (through
funding, facilitation or supervision). The supporting
program or department name
must also be listed on the publication.
Web
Student Organizations and Departments/Programs
Corporate logos may be used on the Web provided the event or program being promoted is supported by a McCombs program or department (through funding, facilitation or supervision). The supporting organization name must be listed on the site.
Corporate names or logos must link to a general corporate Web site that does not directly promote products or services for sale or offer endorsements, price information, comparisons or inducements. Marketing verbiage such as, "Give them a call, Visit their Web site, or special pricing for students" is not allowed.
Corporate logos should not exceed 160 pixels x 125 pixels and may not be
larger than an official university logo on the same page.
