The Managing Risk in India Workshop

The Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) is committed to making
high level expertise available to the Texas business community.  For this event, we are
collaborating with UT’s South Asia Institute to introduce groundbreaking research and expertise on
a topic of critical interest to Texas companies of all sizes. Top researchers from The University of
Texas and an experienced corporate negotiator will share their expertise on the challenges faced
by U.S. companies attempting to realize their goals for cost savings by outsourcing to India.

At a time of economic uncertainty, it’s more important than ever for corporate cost saving
strategies to be successful. Outsourcing business, software development and manufacturing
functions to India has been a prominent strategy of the past decade, but less than a third of
respondents to PWC’s Global Outsourcing Survey in 2007said their India projects had delivered as
promised. Operations established by U.S. companies there are often hampered by the country’s
complex bureaucracy, heavily burdened physical infrastructure, regional diversity and political
     uncertainty.

Our workshop on risk assessment and management in India, to be held in Houston, TX on Friday,
November 14th, is the latest in a series of Strategic Insight events designed to make world-class
expertise available to Texas companies. This half-day program features distinguished UT faculty,
researchers and business people whose work focuses on business trends as well as political and
cultural realities in India. These experts will identify potential problems and provide
recommendations for risk assessment and management for companies establishing or expanding an
     operation in India.

The hosting organizations have underwritten the cost of the event to offer it at an exceptional
value.  Priced at only $50, the workshop is designed especially for corporate executives seeking to
maximize the return on investment of Indian operations.
