Business Language Tutoring
CIBER offers personal and small group tutoring sessions in a variety of
languages for MBA and MPA students who would like to improve their foreign and business
language skills. There are generally 12 weekly 90-minute sessions that
begin the third week of the semester. The focus of the tutoring sessions
depends on your level of proficiency: Beginning (basic language),
Intermediate (business terminology), Advanced (business situations). This
program is open to all MBA/MPA students on a non-credit basis. Meeting
times are flexible and scheduled with each instructor. The cost of the
tutoring program is $400. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

MBA Course International Content Development Grants and Course
Internationalization Awards
In 2003, the
International MBA Student Association (IMBASA), with the support of Deans
Gau and Salbu, conducted a project to identify international content that should
be a part of the education of all McCombs MBAs. Subsequently, a grants
program was created in order to encourage faculty participation in the effort to
increase international content in the McCombs curriculum. The program is
administered by IMBASA and funded by CIBER.
MBA Course Internationalization Program –The first
course internationalization contest was held in spring of 2004.
Applications are accepted in spring, 2007. Up to six grants of
approximately $1,000 each are available to faculty members who teach MBA
courses, on a proposal basis. Grants are available to faculty members
teaching in both core and non-core categories.
Grantees are required to deliver a short before/after presentation of the
changes in their course at a reception organized and hosted by IMBASA.
Receptions are held the spring following application submission.
MBA Course Internationalization Award – At the IMBASA
receptions, one grantee is selected to receive an award of $3,000 for “Best
Internationalization of a Course” in each of the core and non-core categories
The selection is made by a panel of judges (from UT and from industry) based
upon the grantees’ presentations of changes in their courses.
