2009 BBA Global Business Program:  Partner University Students

Courses of Study and Credit

Students will take two courses in international business, as follows:

    • International Corporate Management Simulation (ICM):

The ICM course consists of strategy exercises and tactical

simulations. Through the Marketplace computer simulation,

multi-cultural teams of students start up and run their own

multi-national company, struggling with business fundamentals,

the interplay between marketing, human resources, operations,

finance, and accounting, and international factors such as

exchange rates and tariffs. (30 hours of instruction)

    • Studies in Intercultural Management: This course focuses

on practical tools and techniques for achieving international

business goals. Topics include Intercultural Team Building,

Strategies for Cultural Analysis and Investigation, Building

on Intercultural Experience, International Consumer Behavior,

Managing Virtual Teams, and the Venture Capital Process.

The course also includes tutorials emphasizing practical skills

for team members based on their roles and responsibilities.

      (30 hours of instruction)

The courses, totaling 60 hours of in-class instruction, are carefully integrated to ensure assimilation of business lessons, skills and techniques, and to maximize learning from the intercultural team experience. Students develop self-confidence, intercultural acuity and interpersonal sophistication in addition to academic knowledge of vital international business systems.

Classes typically meet Monday through Thursday at the McCombs School of Business. Participants who successfully complete the program will earn a certificate of completion from The University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business.
