Sunhee KIM Honored by the IIA Austin chapter
Accounting PhDs Accept New Positions
Margaret Christ will be joining the faculty at the University of Georgia. Her
dissertation is titled “Intending to control: An experimental investigation of
the interactions among intentions, reciprocity and control,” and Professor
Steven Kachelmeier was her dissertation chair.
Shankar Venkataraman has accepted a position at Georgia Tech University in
Atlanta. The title of his dissertation is "The joint impact of commitment to
disclosure and prior forecast accuracy on managers’ forecasting credibility."

McCombs Department of Accounting Again Earns Clean Sweep in PAR Rankings
McCombs again made it a clean sweep in the rankings from Public Accounting Report, taking the No. 1 spot on the lists of the most admired undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in the United States, according to the publication’s 26th annual survey of accounting professors. Public Accounting Report bases the rankings on the largest national survey of accounting academics. This marks the 14th consecutive year that the McCombs School's professional-level graduate program—the Master in Professional Accounting (MPA)—earned the No. 1 spot in the survey. Smith named Harrington fellow
James Smith, doctoral student in accounting, has been awarded one of twelve
Harrington Fellowships for 2007-2008. The coveted University of Texas fellowship
was created to support gifted and ambitious scholars who will share their
knowledge and success with future generations.Get the full story.
Crawley awarded one of ten deloitte fellowships
Michael Crawley,
Accounting Ph.D. student, is a recipient of the Deloitte Foundation Doctoral
Fellowship in Accounting for 2008. One of ten winners nationwide, Crawley will
receive $5,000 during his final year of course work and $20,000 during the
subsequent year of completing a dissertation.

Department of Accounting Mission
The mission of the Department of Accounting is to further excellence in the accounting discipline within the mission of the university and the McCombs School of Business. In the context of the department this means
- Expanding and creating knowledge through scholarship of theoretical and practical impact, and
- Communicating knowledge of the accounting discipline through teaching undergraduate and graduate students, training accounting scholars and educators, and interacting with the external business and policy-making community.
