RESEARCH

The McCombs School of Business is housed in The George Kozmetsky Center for Business Education, consisting of research facilities, classrooms and offices. Students have access to some of the most advanced computer systems in the world, ranging from networked PC workstations to supercomputers. The business school contains advanced research laboratories and classrooms, including the following:
  • EDS Financial Trading Center with state of the art multimedia teaching, conferencing, and long-distance learning facilities,
  • Classroom 2000, the totally networked computer classroom, used for research and teaching in the management of information systems,
  • Behavioral Laboratory, designed to accommodate many kinds of experiments, ranging from individual and group judgments to computerized laboratory markets and other interactive experiments.

LIBRARIES

The University of Texas at Austin has the fifth largest academic library system in the U.S., with over eight million volumes located in 17 different libraries on campus. In Anthony Hobson's Great Libraries, it is cited as one of the 32 great libraries of the world, only five of which are in the U.S.

Students may gain access to library collections through computer research services. The on-line catalog system makes the status of holdings readily available. To make it even easier, any personal computer with a modem can bring this information directly to students.

The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum is one of eight presidential libraries in the United States and the first to be built on a university campus. It consists of two major operations: the Library, which houses 35 million historical documents used primarily by scholars, and the Museum, which provides year-round public viewing of historical cultural exhibits.
