Dr. Robert C. Duvic

Dr. Robert C. Duvic holds a Doctorate in Finance and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Management, both from The University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a Master of Science in Transportation Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tulane University. Dr. Duvic's areas of research are deposit insurance and financial institutions, corporate capital structure and bankruptcy, and international foreign exchange markets.

Dr. Duvic has been teaching at UT since 1989, lecturing in corporate finance and international finance. He has taught in the regular BBA and MBA programs, and also in the Texas Executive MBA Program and the University of Texas Center for Lifelong Engineering Education. During 1997-2000, he served as Assistant Dean of the Graduate School of Business, The University of Texas at Austin, with responsibilities for admissions, alumni affairs, external relations and communications. He has participated as an invited speaker for commercial and public service organizations, and he has contributed his efforts to numerous activities in support of the students of the College and Graduate School of Business Administration of The University of Texas at Austin.

He has twice received The Hank and Mary Harkins Foundation Teaching Excellence Award for Effective and Innovative Teaching in Large Undergraduate Classes and The Fred Moore Award for Excellence in Teaching by Assistant Instructors, both awards given by The University of Texas at Austin. He has also received the prestigious The Eyes of Texas Award for Excellence in Service to The University of Texas at Austin, twice received the Faculty Teaching Award from the Undergraduate Business Council fo the McCombs School of Business, the Outstanding Professor Award of the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity and the Professor of the Year Award of the University of Texas Finance Association.

Dr. Duvic is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a Major (retired) in the United States Army Reserve and served with the America l Division in the Republic of Viet Nam. Outside of his academic life, Dr. Duvic's efforts are devoted to his wife and four cats, restoring his historic home in Hyde Park, and keeping his 1961 MGA running.
