Engineering Route to Business (ERB)

The McCombs School’s Engineering Route to Business (ERB) Program is a rigorous and challenging degree plan that satisfies industry’s demand for technologically savvy graduates who have backgrounds in both engineering and business. In the ERB Program, students take engineering, math, and science classes while working toward a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. ERB students develop a broad strategic perspective of business principles and acquire a solid command of the technical fundamentals of engineering. As a result, they leave the program well prepared for success in managing highly technical business environments.

The IROM Department in the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas offers several areas in business and engineering in which a student can focus and specialize their studies. All students in the ERB major are required to select a business block option and an engineering block option. Students will most likely find employment in their business block option for a company that specializes in their engineering block option, but not necessarily.

The business blocks are: The engineering blocks are:
In addition to core business classes and a set of engineering courses, ERB students must take extra math, chemistry, and physics classes beyond standard BBA requirements to complete their engineering curriculum.

“The ERB Program is the best degree program to prepare students for both the business and technical/engineering worlds. The program gave me the analytical problem solving skills I needed to develop solutions in a business environment. I have great respect for anyone who successfully completes the requirements of the ERB Program.”
