Mechanical Engineering Block Option

Mechanical engineering is concerned with the design, creation, and operation of most of the manufactured items around us such as lasers, automobiles, airplanes, biomedical applications (such as artificial hearts), and heating and ventilation systems.

The ERB faculty advisor recommends that ERB majors with an Mechanical Engineering block option take the following set of courses. Students may also create their own course sets based on those listed on the degree plan; however, this course set have been designed to have the fewest number of prerequisites and the best grouping of applicable coursework. 

 

EM 306
Statics


Prerequisites: credit or registration for M 408D or M 308L, and credit or registration for PHY 303K and 103M.

   

   

ME 326
Themodynamics


Prerequisites: CH 301, M 408D, and PHY 303K with a grade of at least 'C' in each.

 


ME 330
Fluid Mechanics

Prerequisites: M 427K, EM 306, and ME 326 with a grade of at least 'C' in each.
 

ME 311 
Materials Engineering

Prerequisites: CH 301, EM 319, ME 326 with a grade of at least 'C' in each; credit or registration for PHY 303L and 103N.
