Shadow Program (Apprentice Day) Program Description
This program offers a student (the “apprentice”) the opportunity to experience the phases of the professional's (the “sponsor”) routine, therefore, gaining insight into a career in the fields of risk management, insurance, loss control and/or safety. The selected apprentice may engage in activities such as accompanying his/her sponsor in analysis and evaluative work, participation in industry meetings, observing management decision-making, implementation and monitoring of risk management policies and practices in the work setting, sitting-in on consultations, group interaction sessions, presentations, keeping a journal of your internship experiences, and other professional activities the mentor or program directors and apprentices are able to arrange.
This educational program is designed to allow students to gain an insight into the variety of practical applications available risk management fields, build rapport with industry professionals, and learn about the impact of risk management upon business and institutions. Apprentices apply knowledge and understanding towards making their career decisions, and acquire leadership experience through administration of the program as future coordinators.
