BEFORE YOU ARRIVE - Please review this important information before your arrival.

Housing

If you are house hunting, contact Carla Esserini, Chair's Assistant, (512-471-5225) to plan a trip to Austin approximately 6 weeks in advance of your move to secure an apartment or a house. Contact three moving companies approximately 5 weeks before your move to get quotes, and compare the quality of service as well as price. Your house-hunting trip(s) and moving expenses will be reimbursed to you in accordance within the guidelines of your offer letter.

Childcare

  • Most of the childcare centers on or near the University of Texas have a two-year waiting list. An application must be completed, including a $10.00, or more, processing fee, after you have visited the site. If you are interested in a place on campus you can visit UT Childcare Center's website.

    Contact Information:

  • Of course, if you do not want childcare through the University, you can always venture out. There are many good organizations in Austin to help in your search. We suggest that you start looking as soon as possible as most facilities reach their limits rather quickly. Here are some websites that can help, depending upon your preference. Remember you can always look in the phonebook or in the paper.
