Steering Committee
A steering committee of industry representatives is a vital source
of direction for the program. The IM Steering Committee is composed
of executives from the leading users and producers of information technology
on both a national and local basis. The committee convenes twice a year
to meet with students, learn about student and faculty research, and
give input on curriculum issues.
Member firms are expected to provide representation to at least one
steering committee meeting a year, actively recruit at least one IM
graduate a year, provide financial support to the program and provide
information on research or benchmarking topics to students who are engaged
in those activities.
Committee members come from a variety of industries including consulting,
transportation, high technology, manufacturing, and services. Some firms
are based in Austin, providing students with opportunities for projects
and internships during the semesters.
