Highlights and Accomplishments
Here are a few of the highlights of 2005–2006 made possible by
our generous donors:
- McCombs undergraduates won the International Case Competition in Thailand.
- U.S. News & World Report ranked McCombs’ undergraduate program No. 5 in the nation.
- The MBA Class of 2006 raised the most money with the smallest class in their Leave a Legacy campaign—a total of $129,070.
- The Executive Education and Conference Center received its first naming gift—$1 million toward the facility.
- McCombs’ Energy Finance Group organized and hosted the nation’s first energy finance case challenge.
- In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, McCombs offered research facilities to displaced faculty from Tulane University.
- The Ford Career Center launched a student-run career networking web site.
- MBA alumni conducted 72 percent of admission interviews for the September 2005 class.
- Seven corporations matched 20 or more of their employees’ gifts in the year 2005–06. These corporations included Accenture Foundation, Inc., Deloitte Foundation, Ernst & Young Foundation, ExxonMobil Foundation, International Paper Company Foundation, KPMG Foundation and Wells Fargo Foundation. Additionally, in the year 2005–06, corporations matched 553 employee gifts for a total of $360,534.
- The McCombs MBA Alumni Network grew to 27 chapters.
- McCombs’ MBA applicant pool grew by nine percent.
- McCombs tied for No. 7 among leading business schools in research productivity. Along with UCLA, McCombs has the highest research productivity of any public business school.
- The first MBA Alumni Network Business Conference was held.
- McCombs hired 14 new tenure-track faculty.
- MBA program student placement jumped from a No. 16 ranking three years ago to No. 6 out of the top 20 business schools in employment three months from graduation.
Eight McCombs Professors honored in Academy of Distinguished
Teachers
UT established the Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 1995 to
recognize tenured faculty members who have made sustained and
significant contributions to education, including a
distinguished teaching record. Only a few faculty members are
selected for this award each year. Currently, eight McCombs
