Mitte Foundation Retracts $9.4 Million Pledge
As some alumni and friends of the Business Honors Program (BHP) may have heard from recent news reports, on May 23 the Austin-based Mitte Foundation decided to retract the commitment of $9.4 million in student scholarships that it had pledged to the McCombs School in December 2001. The decision is certainly a setback, but BHP remains a great program and will continue to compete with the nation’s top private schools for the best and brightest students in Texas. This year’s incoming freshman BHP class is ranked in the top 1.92% of their high school class and has an average SAT score of 1416. For more information concerning this decision by the Mitte Foundation, see
news reports from the Austin American-Statesman
and the Chronicle of Higher Education, or contact BHP Director Dr. Eli Cox at

Konana Elected to Academy of Distinguished Teachers
The University has selected Prabhudev Konana of the MSIS Department as one of seven new faculty members in UT’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers. The academy recognizes teaching excellence, particularly at the undergraduate level. Konana is the seventh McCombs professor to be honored, joining Robert Prentice, Steve Salbu, Michael Granof, Jay Koehler, Anitesh Barua, and Ross Jennings. See the
press release.
MBA Class of 2003 Leaves a Legacy with Highest Participation of any Class!
The MBA Class of 2003 Leave a Legacy campaign ended in May and the students did a fantastic job in showing their support of the McCombs community. The class had a 77% participation rate, the highest level since the campaign’s inception in 1996, and pledged $78,154 to renovate the 21st Street entrance to the School. See the
proposed renovation schematic.
