McCombs School Announces 2004 Hall of Fame Inductees
The McCombs School will induct Peter R. Coneway, Gary T. Crum, Robert H. Graham and James J. Mulva into its prestigious Hall of Fame during a ceremony on November 5.

McCombs Introduces New MBA Program in Houston
The McCombs School is starting an MBA program in Houston to begin in August 2005. The Texas MBA at Houston will be a two-year, part-time MBA conducted on alternating weekends. The program allows McCombs to bring its successful MBA curriculum directly to the business community of Houston, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States and the U.S. city with the second most Fortune 500 headquarters.

BusinessWeek Ranks McCombs MBA No. 19
BusinessWeek’s current cover story focuses on the top 30 MBA programs, according to the results of their latest bi-annual survey. McCombs placed No. 19, up two spots from the last survey in 2002. Ethics, leadership and improved placement prospects were key themes for the 2004 graduates.

Undergraduate Career Week Connects BBAs and Recruiters
This fall’s Undergraduate Career Week, held Sept. 20-23, featured a full slate of workshops, talks, networking opportunities and a case competition. It also signifies that this year’s job-seekers should find the hiring climate a little more temperate than it has been in recent years.

Undergrad Olympic Gold Medalist Does Not Plan to Rest on Her Laurels
While many McCombs School students did traditional summer internships, Sanya Richards had a very different kind of summer experience. Richards, a junior majoring in management information systems at the McCombs School of Business, spent the summer preparing for her first Olympics. She competed in two track and field events in Athens and took home a gold medal for the 4x400m relay.

Kinko's Founder Sees No Conflict Between Morality and Business
As the head of Kinko’s, Paul Orfalea grew the business from one copy machine on wheels to over a thousand stores worldwide. At the same time, he became well-known for his concern for employees, and the company was ranked one of the “top 100 companies to work for” by Fortune magazine on several occasions. In a speech to McCombs students, Orfalea discussed how an ethical focus makes a practical difference in the lives of people was always part of the business plan.

Undergraduate Transfer Students Bring Fresh Perspectives to McCombs
Around four hundred undergraduates at McCombs, or approximately one in ten members of the BBA student body, are transfer students. Simply by getting accepted to McCombs, most transfers have already demonstrated they have a lot of initiative. Still, even focused individuals need a little motivation sometimes, says Sam Laine, a junior PPA and president of the Business Transfer Student Association (BTSA).
