MBA Class of 2006 Breaks Leave A Legacy Record
This year, in honor of David Lee Chen—a second-year MBA student who passed away in January—the MBA Class of 2006 dedicated all donations to the Leave A Legacy Campaign to the David Lee Chen Memorial Graduate Fellowship. The campaign was a huge success—the MBA Class of 2006 raised the most money with the smallest class in Leave A Legacy's 10-year history, a grand total of $129,070! The gift will result in an annual scholarship of up to $7,500 awarded to a full-time, second-year MBA student in good academic standing, who has notably enriched the lives of his or her classmates and substantially contributed to the McCombs community.

In the News: Brandl Advises How to Teach Children Financial Values
KXAN, May 10, 2006
Michael Brandl, senior finance lecturer at McCombs, shared tips on teaching children to manage money during his weekly segment on the KXAN morning news show. Brandl emphasized the importance of valuing hard work and equating it with creating income—that is, making children earn their weekly allowance. Considering that most kids are not exposed to economics until their senior year of high school, Brandl recommended starting the dialog about money early. “We live in a global economy and kids need to understand what they’re getting themselves into,” Brandl said.
