MBA Students Win UNC Real Estate Development Challenge

McCombs competed against many of the top schools from across the country, and while it may not come as a huge surprise that this talented team won, it is still a very impressive accomplishment. McCombs Rises in BusinessWeek Ranking
In the third annual BusinessWeek magazine survey of top undergraduate business programs, released Feb. 28, the McCombs School of Business ranked No. 10 overall out of 96 schools surveyed nationally. Last year McCombs was ranked No. 13. The ranking places the school’s program No. 3 among public schools and No. 1 among public schools with four-year programs.

Executive Education Expands General Management Certificate
Texas Executive Education is expanding the flexibility of one of its most popular programs, the General Management Certificate (GMC) by adding another finance program to its list of courses. “Managerial Accounting for Non-Financial Executives,” taught by Accounting Department faculty David Platt (right) and Brian Lendecky, is now an option for participants who want a finance program that focuses on internal business measurements to meet the requirements of a GMC. “We’re adding this program in response to clients’ requests,” said Lynn Slattery, assistant director of Executive Development Programs. “This new option expands the reach of the program for clients who already have some accounting and finance experience, and want to increase their accounting knowledge to make better management decisions.”

Media: Elections Attract Foreign Reporters to Austin
KUT, March 3, 2008
The battle over the Lone Star state’s democratic delegates has put Texas in the international spotlight. Recently the State Department brought about fifty foreign reporters to UT Austin to hear faculty discuss some of the issues important to the American voter. Michael Brandl, senior finance lecturer, who took part in the event, said the international press corps can be more thorough than the American press. “Sometimes their questions are more probing and interesting.”
