McCombs MBA Team Shines at Prestigious Tech Competition

At the annual International Tech Strategy Business Case Competition, sponsored by Ericsson and hosted by Boston University March 28-29, the McCombs MBA team of, left to right above, Tiju Tom, Darek VanToorn, Sumeet Daga and Nihar Gupta (not pictured) finished in fourth place and took home $2,500. The grueling 24-hour case analysis invitational featured eight international teams and eight U.S. teams reputed to be among the best in combined technological and business savvy. Stanford University won the top prize of $25,000.

Green Means Go Race: Sign Up Today!
Undergraduate students at McCombs are introducing the first “Green Means Go” 5K run/walk April 27 to raise funds to make the McCombs School more environmentally friendly. The students hope to raise enough to offset an entire year of greenhouse gas emissions produced by heating and cooling the overall square footage of the business school buildings. The Austin community is welcome to participate with students, faculty and staff in this event, which will begin at 8 a.m. on the UT campus.

Brazilian Oil Company Returns to McCombs for Executive Program
Texas Executive Education, in partnership with the Jackson School of Geosciences, is happy to welcome a return visit of a team of 19 oil executives from Brazil’s Petróleo Brasileiro, S.A, also known as Petrobras. The nine-week program, “Business Acumen for the Energy Executive”, runs through May 9. The program offers a broad look at the macro-economy of oil and valuable insights into doing business in the U.S. Among the faculty teaching this program are Jim Dyer, John Daly, Gaylen Paulson and John Burrows.

The 2008 Global Moot Corp Competition is just around the corner, and you can be a part of the action. The organizers are looking to fill a few volunteer spots for the competition, which runs April 30 - May 3.
