Thanks to Alumni Around the World
Thanks to all of you who have been participating in alumni interviews. As you
know, this is our first year of mandatory, invitation-only interviews. We could
not have accomplished this effort without the dedication and participation of
our alumni from around the world. To date, there have been 704 interviews (249
on campus, 452 by alumni). And those 452 alumni interviews have been conducted
in 35 states and 28 countries.

Plus Global Provides Opportunity for Networking with Alumni
To explore opportunities in global markets, 241 MBA students from McCombs set
out on March 5 for a series of global study tours to China, India, Eastern
Europe, Russia, South America, South Africa, and Australia. An increasing number
of MBA programs offer study tours, but the McCombs trips are distinctive for
their hands-on approach. While they are abroad, they will interact with local
businesses, governments, and alumni. This year, we are hosting alumni
receptions/dinners in Santiago, Beijing, Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Mumbai and Moscow.

In the Spotlight: Ben Friedman, MBA 03
Ben Friedman recently was interviewed recently by CNBC's “Wake Up Call.” He has
also appeared on Bloomberg TV on three separate occasions since graduation.
While at McCombs, Ben was a member of the MBA Investment Fund and the Venture
Capital Fellows, as well as at the Teacher’s Retirement System. Following
graduation, he joined Dana Investment Advisors in his current capacity as an
Equity Analyst and Assistant Portfolio Manager.

events. This year’s events were held in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago,
Dallas, Denver, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Antonio, San
Diego, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Sao Paulo, Lima, and Munich. We look
forward to seeing you at the summer receptions!

Departures
Kudos to Kippi!
Please join us in congratulating Kippi Griffith on her new position as the
Director of Alumni and Parent Programs at St. Edwards University. She was an
amazing asset to this office as the Associate Director of Alumni Relations. We
will miss her greatly in this office but are excited about this opportunity for
her.
Congrats to Jamie!
Congratulations to Jamie King Belinne, who has accepted a new role at the
University as Assistant Director of Recruiting and Staffing. Jamie joined the
school in 1992 to create our first dedicated MBA career services staff and
programs. Please join us in wishing her well in her new position.

Legendary Investor Hicks Announces Plans for
Retirement from HMTF
By James Politi, Financial Times
In a statement released yesterday, investor Tom Hicks announced
that he will be resigning in March 2005 from the chairmanship of
Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, the private equity group he founded 15
years ago. "He's been a trailblazer," George Gau, dean of the
McCombs School of Business, told James Politi of the Financial
Times. "This is someone with a great record in finding firms that
need to be restructured, made profitable and resold for a profit."
