Barron’s Profiles McCombs Victory in 2005 MBA Marketing Summit
In late January, a team of McCombs MBAs won the country’s most
prestigious national marketing case competition, the MBA Marketing
Summit at Wake Forest University. Through a twist of fate, the
team's victory was also the subject of a feature profile in the
latest issue of Barron's.

Winter Receptions a Big Success
The McCombs MBA Alumni Winter Receptions were a huge success
this year happening in 14 cities. Thank you to our Chapter
Presidents around the country who were instrumental in helping to
host these events.

Plus Global Gears Up for Spring Session
Plus Global, which combines six weeks of class with a two-week
business trip during the Plus period, offers students the
opportunity to truly globalize their MBA. This Spring, 250 McCombs
MBA students will travel to 8 destinations as a part of Plus
Global: China, Chile/Argentina, India, Prague/Budapest, South
Africa, Russia, Southeast Asia, and Turkey. While abroad, the
students meet with local and multinational companies, connect with
McCombs alumni, and collaborate on consulting projects with MBAs
from a partner school in the region.

Women in Business Leadership Conference:
Commit to Your Community, Says Dawson
Work-life balance may be
an evergreen issue for businesswomen struggling to balance family
commitments and professional goals, but according to Susan Dawson,
president of the Austin-based technology consulting firm Athens
Group, professional and personal goals not need be in tension. A
holistic approach to life, in which family commitments coexist
with careers and community service, offers benefits to executives,
companies and the community at large.

recognized 15 McCombs faculty members for teaching excellence.

Team Marketing First Network Card for Gamers Wins $100K in Texas
Moot Corp Contest
Bigfoot Networks Inc., which plans to be the
first company to market a network card designed specifically for
online gamers, beat out three other teams of MBA students to win
$100,000 in investment funding in the Texas round of MOOT CORP®,
the new venture competition hosted annually at the McCombs School.

reporting record profits. But an industry that has suffered its
share of booms and busts still faces a familiar question: How long
