Direct from McCombs
Dear McCombs MBA Alumni,
I want to take this opportunity to officially introduce myself as the Director of MBA Alumni Relations at
McCombs. The past three months have been fantastic! I am thrilled to be back at McCombs (for the third time).
I went to UT for my BA, McCombs for my MBA (class of 2003), and am now charged with further developing the
McCombs MBA Alumni (MMA) Network. I follow in the footsteps of Elissa Ellis and Tina Mabley and am excited
about this great opportunity to take our alumni network to the next level!
Prior to assuming this role, I worked at Dell in Product Group marketing and Co-Chaired the McCombs MBAs at
Dell Group. You might have read about McCombs alums at Dell in the most recent Exchange magazine.
I had a fantastic time traveling to 7 of our 14 Summer Welcome Receptions and meeting many of our alums. I
plan to visit even more cities for the Winter Receptions in January. Please make every effort to attend.
I want to take a moment to thank all of our alumni who volunteer their time for the MMA Network. Your hard work
is the key to our continued success. For anyone interested in helping strengthen the network, you can get
involved with your local chapter, the MMA Advisory Board, and also assist with your class efforts. Visit this
link for more information:

Personal Growth and Professional Development, in Just One Year
BusinessWeek, July 2005
In the latest installment of her MBA Journal for BusinessWeek Online, Heather Densmore, MBA '06, reflects on
some of the highlights of her first year as an MBA student at the McCombs School of Business. "Exactly one
year ago, in May 2004, I was a management consultant traveling constantly between Dallas and San Francisco, a
nomad with no real home, with a few friends in many different cities, and I was on a career path that didn't
particularly excite me," she writes. "Now...I own a two-bedroom condo in Austin, have more friends here than I
can even begin to count, and am about to start an exciting internship where I will work on property valuations
and acquisitions at INVESCO Real Estate, a major real estate investment management firm. My path is finally
defined and I'm thrilled about a career in the commercial real estate industry."
