Open Source Workshop

Theme: The Future of Open Source Peer Production Models: Business and Legal Frontiers

A workshop entitled “The Future of Open Source Peer Production Models: Business and Legal Frontiers” will be held on Tuesday May 2nd at the University of Texas campus. Research Centers at the McCombs School of Business and UT School of Law are joining forces to collaborate on an open source conference. The workshop brings leading thinkers from legal, business, political, and technical areas to debate the issues.

Open source refers to the practice of making public the content of intellectual property (e.g., software code, music, encyclopedias) so that others are encouraged and empowered to review, critique, and improve it.

The meeting is free and open to all faculty, students and staff of UT Austin as well as the broader Austin community. Presenters will include business executives, computer scientists, political and social scientists, entrepreneurs, lawyers, information scientists, etc.
