Donde Plowman

Dr. Donde Plowman's research interests are in the areas of organizations as complex adaptive systems; radical change and emergent leadership in complex systems; interpretation, sensemaking and mindfulness in complex organizations; and, participation of individuals and groups in strategic decision making. She has published more than 30 articles and book chapters and is currently conducting research on strategic decision-making in hospitals. She has received the President's Award for Excellence in Research at The University of Texas at San Antonio and awards for teaching and research in the College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Plowman served as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research in the College of Business for three years and was responsible for starting the Ph.D. program in Business.

Dr. Plowman is currently Flaskerud Professor Of Strategic Management at the University of Tennessee.

Before moving to academics, Donde Plowman was a university administrator for seven years at The University of Texas at Austin and at The University of California at Los Angeles. She has conducted management training in private industry for companies including IBM, Texas Instruments, Zachry Company, Apple, Bellcore, Bell Helicopter, the Continuum Company, Halliburton Services and others.
