McCombs School of Business

Candidate Profile

The selection of candidates for the Texas Executive MBA Program is based on the following considerations:

  • Does the candidate demonstrate the capacity to do outstanding academic work at the graduate level?
  • Does the candidate bring significant managerial experience from which his or her classmates will benefit?
  • Will the candidate reach a position of greater executive responsibility and will the Texas Executive MBA Program genuinely enhance his or her career?
  • Are the candidate and the employer capable of making and sustaining a two-year commitment to a rigorous MBA program?

Requirements for admission include an undergraduate degree from any discipline. Graduate course work from other universities cannot be transferred into the Texas Executive MBA Program. The prospective candidate must also have a minimum of five years full time work experience as an adult (including military service). The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) taken within the last five years is required of all applicants.

Admission decisions will be made by the Dean of the McCombs School of Business on the basis of recommendations from a committee comprised of program faculty. Those candidates who appear to be most competitive for admission will be invited to interview with the director of the program.
