Conferences

The Center periodically hosts conferences that focus on the private equity market.  These conferences facilitate discussion between participants in the private equity market and researchers that study this market.  They also provide an opportunity for students in the private equity finance specialization program to enhance their understanding of the private equity market.  The conferences bring together investors, private equity fund managers, issuers of private equity securities, commercial and investment bankers, and leading researchers from throughout the country.

The 2004 Texas Private Equity Conference was held in Austin, Texas on Friday, October 15, 2004 (see the program).  Attendance at the Texas Private Equity Conference is by invitation only.  For questions concerning future conferences, please contact Juana Hardwick.

On October 17, 2003, the HMTF Center for Private Equity Finance, along with ZN Mexico Funds, and the University of Texas Investment Management Company, hosted a conference in Mexico City that examined Cross-Border Opportunities, Challenges, and Successes under NAFTA (see the program).

The 2003 Texas Private Equity Conference was held in Austin, Texas on Friday, September 26, 2003 (see the program).

Scholarships

Each year the Center awards up to eight $1,000 merit-based scholarships to graduate students at the McCombs School of Business who are interested in the study of private equity finance.  These scholarships are generally awarded to second year MBA students who express an interest in the study of private equity finance, but can be awarded to Ph.D. students.  The scholarships are named in honor of the partners at Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst who provide financial support for the Center.

Qualified students can download a scholarship application form here.  The deadline for applications for the 2008-09 academic year is Wednesday,
