Engineering
The Engineering division designs,
builds and installs all of the multimedia systems for the
Business School Complex (GSB and CBA) and The University
Teaching Center (UTC). Engineering additionally maintains
all of the media facilities in the school, including
component repair and maintenance.
Our design team consists of several technicians with
individual expertise in different aspects of electronic
design and media systems. Our director Jörg Becker is
responsible for the overall system design. He converses with
individual clients to assess the project needs, the
architects and the contractors. He also develops user
interfaces and is responsible for facility and lectern
design. Phil Boggan, our head of engineering, takes a
project design, develops the system components and decides
what needs to be created to interface all of the different
devices required for the system. Phil also programs the
functionality for all of the control systems. Tom
Densford and Joe DiPrima are design and repair
technicians who develop and build the circuitry necessary
for the McCombs School of Business multimedia systems. They
also do some of the programming needed to make those systems
work and maintain the installed systems. Dave Hobday and Doug Bickford are
our mechanical wizards. They develop and install all of the
mechanical aspects of an installation, from the face plates
to the nifty
mechanical inner workings
which no one can see but on which they rely every day.
