The integrated approach to the MPA is a three-year program designed for students in the McCombs School of Business beyond their sophomore year who are in the process of earning a Bachelor in Business Administration degree. Students pursuing the integrated approach to the MPA earn both a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in accounting and a Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) degree.

The Master in Professional Accounting degree develops strong technical and professional accounting skills considerably beyond the introductory courses of the BBA program. The University of Texas faculty, nationally acclaimed for their contributions to accounting research and curriculum development, has carefully designed the Texas MPA curriculum for outstanding students seeking careers in public accounting, industry, not-for-profit organizations, consulting, financial institutions and academia.

You will have the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in one of four tracks: Financial Reporting and Assurance, Tax, Managerial Accounting and Control, or Generalist.

You will also interact with professionals in the field through the MPA Distinguished Speaker Lyceum, receptions, team competitions, workshops and internships. The Texas MPA program also offers study abroad opportunities that will prepare you for the global focus of today’s business world.

Texas MPA graduates are heavily recruited by nearly 200 organizations representing more than 25 different industries, in the U.S. and overseas. Most students accept a job offer before graduating.

If your goal is to sit for the CPA exam, you can tailor your academic plan so that you are eligible to sit for the exam in your final semester. CPA exam eligibility requirements vary widely from state to state, so the state in which you plan to sit for the exam will determine whether you will need to complete coursework beyond the MPA degree.
