Welcome to The University of Texas at Austin Internal Auditing Education Partnership Program! Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes (http://www.theiia.org).
Internal auditors review and evaluate the risks that a business faces which may disrupt operations and examine the control systems the organization has in place to mitigate those risks. Internal auditors become intimately aware of all aspects of the organization and therefore, internal auditing is often a spring-board to upper level management.
