Estimated MPA Program Costs

The following are approximate tuition and fees for the MPA Program, based on the 2008-2009 academic year tuition rates. In general, the total cost of enrollment is determined by the student's residency status, program length and number of credit hours taken in each semester. The MPA Program ranges from 37 to 43 semester credit hours, depending on the number of waivers granted for previous coursework completed. A twelve- to fifteen-hour schedule is a typical course load for an MPA student in any given semester.

The tuition bill is payable after registration and covers the student's academic program costs, including tuition, mandatory fees and charges and college and course incidental fees. It does not include the following:

  • refundable general property deposit fee ($10, charged one time to students enrolling for the first time at UT-Austin)
  • international student health insurance program fee
  • international student orientation fee ($51.50, charged one time to students enrolling for the first time at UT-Austin)
  • optional fees (such as the Longhorn All-Sports Package and parking permits)
  • late registration fees, installment plan service charge, late payment charges, etc., if applicable
  • study abroad program fees
  • books, supplies, housing and other living expenses*

*The Office of Student Financial Services provides an estimated UT cost of attendance, including room and board, transportation, and personal expenses, which is based upon averages approved by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
