Professor Profiles
Linda Krull
Assistant Professor of Accounting
After academic and professional pit stops in Florida, Indiana and Arizona, Assistant Professor Linda Krull, makes her latest stop at Texas and the McCombs School of Business to share her expertise in Accounting with the number one ranked undergraduate Accounting program in the nation.
Krull received a PhD in accounting from the University of Arizona, a Master of Accounting from the University of Florida, and a BS in business administration from Indiana University. Before receiving her PhD, she took a detour into public accounting in Tampa, Florida, working in Arthur Anderson’s tax division for almost three years.
After time in the professional sector, Krull realized her enthusiasm for numbers and taxes would only be able to continue growing through a career in academics, where she could focus on research. Additionally, she considers the rare opportunity to work and teach young business people valuable and rewarding on a personal level.
Krull’s research interests include international tax and financial accounting, the effects of taxes on firms’ investment and capital structure decisions, and market capitalization of corporate and investor level taxes. Her current research projects include studies on the earnings management incentives of United States multinational companies, the valuation of taxes on permanently reinvested earnings, and dividend payout and tax rates.
She recently defended her research at the University of Illinois Tax Symposium and also received coverage in Financial Accounting. When the professor is not cramming numbers she enjoys cramming in a good game of tennis or a nice run. She is looking forward to the Texas weather and the chance to experience all the Austin entertainment attractions.
Even though Professor Krull has only been in Texas for two months, when asked which flagship state university she enjoyed most she answered with a proud “Texas, of course.”
