The process of matching client needs with consultant skill sets is very inefficient, says Sarosh Waghmar, co-founder of talenthill. “By the time a request reaches the end of the line, the information may be so distorted that the professional may in fact not be the best match.” Talenthill’s software seeks to eliminate mismatches, missed deadlines, and cost overruns by residing directly on a vendor’s Website. This system empowers companies to offer consultants to those customers who have been traditionally left on their own. “It’s a complete service solution addressing the problems that small and medium-sized businesses have with finding professional services,” he says.
Between them, Waghmar and co-founder Pierre Bogacz have nearly 10 years of consulting experience. “The core talenthill team is made up of former professional consultants who all have a direct understanding of the engagement cycle,” says Bogacz. “We know what can be moved to an online setting and what can’t.”
The company secured funding through the Texas Angel Investor group, and also capital from individuals at Morgan Stanley. The company recently relocated to Austin, and wooed professor Anitesh Barua, an e-commerce expert at the McCombs School, to be its advisor in the technology area and a member of the Board of Directors.
“Dr. Barua has been instrumental in providing a vision of our technology,” Waghmar says. “He is one of the smartest Internet economy experts around, and his understanding of what the Internet should be has guided us in our growth.” Also on the Board is Dan Garner, BBA 66, retired partner with Ernst & Young, and founder of the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and the Southwest Venture Capital Conference.
