A desire to help people achieve their potential and a drive to redesign the way business works spurred Geoff Helt, MBA 93, to create Blinq, Inc. Co-founded in 1998 by Helt and partner Louis Kolssak, Blinq offers business design, education, and strategic advisory services to clients in diverse fields such as financial services, telecommunications, health care, consumer goods, and high tech industries.
"We are business designers who love to shape how and why things work, from e-business to brands to innovations," says Helt. "These times of significant transformation and transition in the marketplace require leaders who are not afraid to step in and present bold notions of what is possible." Business designers need to have an ability to see niches in the marketplace and to shape strategies and innovations to fill the gaps, he says.
In his advice for would-be entrepreneurs, Helt takes a philosophical approach. "Launching a business is like taking flying lessons …you either learn how to fly or you land on your feet. The cliff is not as steep as you think. In creating a business, you'll discover mental, emotional and physical muscles that you never knew you had."
