Kendall Paine, Thomas Cademartori, Joseph Mrak, Ron Pruitt, and Randy Bullard agree: ownership in the ultimate outcome is the best aspect of starting a company. "Ownership can breed self-motivation and internal drive that is sometimes difficult to find through a more traditional job," says Kendall Paine. "It can also bring authority and responsibility for determining one's future."

The explosive growth in online investing inspired InteractiveFund.com's new retail investment product, the Investor-Managed Mutual Fund. The fund is a unique offering that allows investors to use their own investment savvy as well as capitalize on that of other like-minded investors. The team is currently working on getting their mutual fund prospectus passed by the SEC and the launch of their Web site.

"Being involved in every component of starting your own business helps one realize the value of everything we learned, from finance to management to strategy," says Paine. While background is important, passion about your venture is a must, according to the group. "If you aren't passionate about what you are doing, the sacrifices won't be worth it. But if you are passionate, the experience itself is an incredible reward."
