The Carolyn Lewis Gallagher Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Business, established by Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Lewis in their daughter's name, will support one or two Texas resident students annually.
Although Gallagher received her MBA from Harvard University before becoming President of Texwood Furniture Corporation in Taylor, Texas, her parents wanted to lend their support a little closer to home. The Lewises' attachment to UT is understandable, as the gift is also in honor of Mr. Lewis' 1941 BBA from UT. "I'm pleased that this fellowship will help others have the same opportunities I have had," said Ms. Gallagher, honored by her parents' tribute. She added that her own graduate business education was a very rewarding experience that helped her in acquiring and growing her own business.
The family has a history of broad support for The University, having also established a scholarship in the College of Natural Sciences in the name of their son, Edward Sibley Lewis, M.D. That scholarship honors the UT degree of Mrs. Peggy Lewis (MA, 48).
