This past fall in Dallas, the Community Minority Business Advancement (CMBA) program graduated its 1,000th participant. This landmark is a measure of the program's continued success in offering quality business education to small and mid-sized business owners and managers, especially minorities and women. Since 1993, Texas Executive Education has provided the 45-hour program to business owners in five cities across the state at a greatly reduced cost, thanks to the many forward-thinking corporate sponsors who understand the benefits of economic development.
Graduates have had high praise for the program and its value. "I found the CMBA Program to be a great experience," said Manuela Salaiz, Director of Community Affairs for Ace Personal Health Care, Inc. in San Antonio. "The UT professors did a wonderful job of backing up business theories with real world, practical examples." Another graduate, Terri Sherman of Business Support Services in Arlington, noted, "This dynamic course taught me financial and marketing strategies that I could immediately apply to my business."
Sponsors of the program include: Southwest Airlines, Wells Fargo Bank, Frito-Lay, Foley's, Bank of America, First Bank of Texas, Conoco, Texas Instruments, Ford Foundation, Mike A. Meyers Foundation, and Temple-Inland Foundation.
