Apart from the stock market, what has risen every year for the past four years and has MBA students beaming with pride? The MBA Leave a Legacy Campaign! Established in 1996 by MBA students who wanted to help drive the School's success, the campaign has grown by every measure: total amount pledged, average gift, and participation percentage. Each class has attempted to outshine the class before, and succeeded. And the campaign has made a real difference in the MBA experience for those students benefiting from previous classes' vision and generosity.
The Class of '98 can take credit for the group meeting rooms recently renovated on the third floor of the GSB. These state-of-the-art facilities are complete with the latest Smartboard technology to facilitate group interaction and productivity. The Classes of '96 and '97 are jointly responsible for a suite of much-appreciated interview changing rooms, and '97 added new suit lockers, making life much easier for MBAs in the midst of a rigorous interview schedule!
The Class of '99 left a fellowship, a very real legacy that will support Texas MBA students in perpetuity. The '99 MBAs also are helping to fund on-going marketing initiatives for the McCombs School of Business, which will help to raise its profile on a national level.
Volunteer co-chairs and cohort representatives from each class set goals and define their specific purpose, with the guiding principle being benefit to future MBA students. Pledges made while in school are collected about six months after the class graduates. Graduating students often create additional value for their gift by getting their new employers to fund corporate matching programs.
