The McCombs School is proud to host an annual dinner honoring donors who establish endowed scholarships and fellowships. As one of the few schools on campus to host such an event, now in its fourth year, we are pleased to recognize the critically important role scholarship support plays in advancing excellence and promoting diversity.
Held this year on February 2, 2001, at the Lila B. Etter Alumni Center, the dinner provided scholarship holders the opportunity to meet and personally thank their benefactors. Donors were treated to dinner and a brief program that included remarks from Finance Department Chair George Gau, scholarship donor Beau Ross, MBA student Sally Dorman ‘01, and BBA student Jean-Paul Daemen ’01.
Each speaker revealed the key role scholarships have played in his or her academic career, ranging from enabling Dr. Gau to become the first of his family to graduate from college, to allowing Ms. Dorman to get involved in leadership-building extra-curricular activities.
From making academic achievement possible, to rewarding excellence, to encouraging highly-focused students to remain free of financial burden, endowed scholarships have a very real, lasting impact, as this fine group of students, speakers, and donors amply demonstrated.
