Accenture Supports McCombs in Innovative Ways
Long a strong supporter of the McCombs School, Accenture recently expanded its commitment by funding three important initiatives. As a sponsor of the MIS Business & Technology Case Competition, the company provided an opportunity for students to present business plans and technical architecture for an emerging technology product.

To provide support for the MIS NetLab, Accenture underwrote two TA  positions. TAs in this working communications technology laboratory support the students in the Data Communications class and assist with hands-on learning critical to future success in the field.

Finally, Accenture is helping efforts to recruit a diverse and representative student body by providing McCombs "welcome packs" to prospective students from underrepresented backgrounds, an Accenture logo backpack and McCombs School t-shirt.

We thank Accenture for its continued interest in the achievement of McCombs School students.

Kimberly-Clark Funds Scholarships
Kimberly-Clark, the $13.6 billion consumer products company home to such well-known brands as Kleenex, Huggies, Scott and Kotex, is among the many supporters of the McCombs School and its students.

Since 2001, Kimberly-Clark has provided a $4,000 prize to the top team in each of four sections of MIS 333K, each semester, for a total of $32,000 per year. The teams, composed of four students, compete to deliver the best solution in a simulated business application within six weeks. Previous competition projects have included airline reservation systems, bookstores, and car rentals. MIS Professor Rick Byars notes that the support from Kimberly-Clark "has really helped make the project much more exciting, and much more competitive."

Kimberly-Clark also provides scholarship support for students in the finance department: a total of sixteen $1,500 scholarships for 2003. The company further underwrites student organizations at McCombs, with $5,500 directed for leadership and student development.

Mark Buthman, CFO of Kimberly-Clark, speaks highly of our students: "At Kimberly-Clark we're fond of saying we're a place where people who think differently think together. We believe the same is true of the McCombs School. We are proud of the programs we've developed with the school - because they recognize diverse talents and reward the brightest and best."

Kimberly-Clark's commitment is a great example of the energizing partnerships possible when companies connect with the McCombs School. To learn more about the customized opportunities available to your firm, contact Katy Nelson at 512-475-8176 or katy.nelson@mccombs.utexas.edu
