Momentum Builds for New Executive Education
and Conference Center
Construction of the Executive Education and Conference
Center is on schedule for 2008. When the facility is
completed, the reputation of both the McCombs School and The
University of Texas at Austin will be enhanced by the
addition of a premiere residential learning facility that
will attract working professionals and allow the school to
grow its academic programs.
“We have great graduate and undergraduate programs, and I
feel strongly that our facilities need to match the quality
of our school. This facility is certainly a step in that
direction,” says John Adams, BBA ’66 and McCombs Advisory
Council member, who has contributed a naming gift to the
facility.
In the last several years, many of McCombs’ peer schools,
such as the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University
and the University of California at Berkeley’s Haas School
of Business have constructed similar facilities. The
addition of the Executive Education and Conference Center
will allow McCombs to effectively compete in the executive
education marketplace and will build a greater sense of
community by enabling higher quality faculty and student
interaction.
“For the McCombs School of Business to be in the top 10, it
is critical to have a facility of this nature,” says John
McStay, BBA ’65, MBA ’66 and McCombs Advisory Council
member, explaining why he decided to contribute to the
facility. “The University of Texas at Austin and the McCombs
School are going to reap such a return from this investment.
It’s one of the most leveraged investments a donor can
make.”
Financial support of the facility is gaining momentum.
However, several naming opportunities remain, including the
executive education center itself, a ballroom, a courtyard,
an amphitheater and several classrooms.
