Graduating Students Give Back to McCombs

BHP Class of 2008 Breaks Giving Record

The Business Honors Program (BHP) class of 2008 raised more than $9,800 as part of their Make-a-Mark campaign—more than any other class to date. And in another first, the amount contributed by students (excluding matching gifts) will be matched by the BHP Advisory Council, bringing the total gift to $15,635.

Their gift will support an endowed student scholarship to help attract top talent to the program and contribute to McCombs’ status as one of the best undergraduate business programs in the country.

“The most fulfilling part of this position has been bringing the senior class together and witnessing their generosity as they donated towards the scholarship endowment,” said Kellie Reed, who co-chaired the effort with Simon Haidamous. “Not only is the Make-a-Mark campaign about raising funds for a great cause, but it gave us the opportunity to get to know our classmates better before we parted ways.”

MBA Class of 2008 Leaves Legacy

MBA Legacy co-chairs, Ammanuel Metta and Ben Rodgers, led a successful campaign, raising more than $141,000 for a media wall in The McCombs School atrium. The wall will feature flat-screen televisions and a financial ticker that will provide business students with continuous news and information.

The MBA Legacy Campaign has been a tradition since 1996 and has helped create a culture of giving in the MBA program. The campaign allows students to invest in the long-term value of their degree and make a lasting impact to the school in a meaningful way that would otherwise not be possible through a single contribution.
