A Texas school was a natural choice for Matt Segrest, a sixth generation Texan who claims kin to a man who stood guard over Santa Anna at the battle of San Jacinto. From Bryan, Matt dutifully attended Texas A&M and entered the Marine Corps upon graduation. "The military is a fantastic place to gain experience in leadership and management, but I needed the hard tools, the quantitative skills to back that up," he says. "I'm interested in energy finance-that area is innovative and dynamic and will allow me to do something altruistic and challenging while providing the lifestyle I want."

The Marine Corps also allowed Matt to develop relationships with people all over the world and hammered home the fact that business must be global. He'll be looking beyond Texas for international opportunities when he graduates. "I'm really interested in going into Latin America," he indicates.
