William H. Wilson, BBA 49, retired as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, and is currently practicing law.

Robert “Webb” Sherrill, BBA 62, was appointed Bishop’s administrator in addition to editor, Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande (New Mexico and West Texas).

Paul McNutt, Jr., BBA 63, Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Title Resources Guaranty Company in Dallas, has received the 2000 Peggy Hayes Teaching Excellence Award from the Texas Land Title Association (TLTA). The award honors an instructor from TLTA’s Land Title School of Texas who has shown outstanding service and commitment.

Harold Mathis, BBA 64, recently led a successful shareholder initiative at Freeport-McMorRan Copper and Gold, Inc., to have all directors stand for election annually. Mathis’ partner in the initiative was the New York City Employees Retirement System.

Joe S. Yardas, Jr., BBA 64, earned his JD from the University of Houston Law Center last December. He has established a law office in Houston.

Robert Heino Schwenk, BBA 66, was named among the ‘FED 100’, one of the 100 most influential people in the information technology community according to the publication Federal Computer Week. Schwenk is Chief, Information Technology Acquisition, Information Systems for Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) with the Defense Department.

James A. Ryan, BBA 68, has retired early to enjoy life and to remodel an old home.

David Pearson, BBA 74, has been promoted to president of Supervalu, Inc.’s central region. Pearson has been in the grocery industry for nearly 30 years. He was previously the marketing vice president.

Laura Hill, BBA 75, joined MobileSpring, Inc. as Vice President of Human Capital in September. Located in New York City, MobileSpring is a leading wireless Internet venture development company.

William Holden Frost, BBA 76, has been promoted to senior vice president of the Financial Management Group at Frost Bank. Frost earned his Chartered Financial Analyst charter in 1981.

Otto Schwethelm, BBA 76, was recently promoted to Vice President - Development and Business Analysis at Tesoro Petroleum Corp. in 
San Antonio.

Ransom W. Douglas, BBA 77, earned his doctorate in education this year from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Michael A. Orlando, BBA 79, started a law firm, Meyer Orlando, LLC, and has been the managing member since June 2000.

John Hank Wilson, BBA 79, is owner of the South Bridge Diner in Chillicothe, OH.

Gail Kanipe, BBA 80, is district manager for the Spar Group, a multi-client merchandising/marketing/database marketing company. She manages over 70 merchandising specialists in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Scott Sands, BBA 81, married Cindy Alphin in April. Sand is laying the groundwork for a new Atlanta, Georgia, office for the consulting firm Sibson & Company.

Craig Foster, BBA 82, MBA 84, has been promoted to Director of Finance at Dell Computer Corporation. Craig and his wife Debbie, BBA 82, live withtheir two children, Christine and Bradley, in Austin.

Brett Montana, BBA 82, is COO of a high tech power management company.

Laura Ehrenberg-Chesler, BBA 83, and Marilou M. Long, MBA 83, founded Crossvault Capital Management, an investment advisory firm in San Antonio. Currently, the firm has $70 million under management.

Robyn Olin Franz, BBA 83, was recently recognized as one of Houston’s top ten recruiters. She started an executive recruiting firm specializing in placement of accounting and finance professionals.

Monica Benoit-Beatty, BBA 85, was selected by the Austin Business Journal and Fox 7 for a “Profile in Power – A person to watch” award during their 6th annual “Profiles in Power” women’s conference. The awards are given to women leaders in the Austin business community. Benoit-Beatty is the manager of the billing center at Farmers Insurance, which is responsible for the company’s Texas operations.

Bill Kroger, BBA 85, MBA 89, a partner with Baker Botts L.L.P. in Houston, was awarded the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Texas Award for 1999-2000 from the State Bar of Texas. The prestigious award is presented to an attorney who has exemplified professional proficiency, service to the profession, and service to the community. Earlier in the year, he was named Outstanding Young Lawyer of Houston by the Houston Bar Association.

Ira H. Green, BBA 86, has been named the new chief financial officer at SalvageSale.com, the leading independent online marketplace for claims recovery and commercial salvage. He was previously with Merrill Lynch.

lan Lloveras, BBA 87, was recently promoted to Tax Partner in the Houston office of Arthur Andersen.

Jeff Kazaka, BBA 88, is VP and Senior Product Manager for Chevy Chase Financial Services in Maryland.

Mike Jenkius, BBA 88, was recently promoted to the partnership of Marakon Associates, a New York based consultancy specializing in issues of corporate and business unit strategy.

Karl Joseph Braun, BBA 89, began a new job with DIEFFI, importing plastic raw materials from such countries as the Czech Republic, Slovak Republik, and Bulgaria for sale to Italian companies. He and his wife live in Cordenoni, Italy.

Greg Mendoza, BBA 89, was recently promoted to HR Manager of the Disney Reservation Center in Orlando, Florida. His four small children are absolutely thrilled that dad is working for Mickey Mouse.

Mark J. Ragusa, BBA 89, recently joined Ruden, McClosky, Smith, Schuster & Russell as a litigation partner in the Tampa, Florida office. Previously, he was with Shear, Newman, Rosenkranz, Burton & Lamb.

Chiu-Yeung Sze, BBA 90, MBA 92, graduated from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs with a MIA (master in international affairs). Chiu-Yeung began a job in September as management consultant for Mitchell Madison in New York.

Stefanie Cole, BBA 91, married Jay Viola in January. Along with partners and UT grads Rene Hanback Kimball, BBA 90, and James Kimball, BA 91, they are building a fishing and diving resort in the Bocas Del Toro area of Panama.

David Douglas Dick, BBA 91, MPA 91, just published a work of fiction under the pen name Keith Douglas. The novel is titled Defenders of the Faith, and is available at www.buybooksontheweb.com.

Daniel T. Bowen III, BBA 92, earned his fifth promotion in eight years and credits his career to the skills he acquired at UT. He recently married Shannon Leigh Lackey.

Damon Hylton, BBA 92, MBA 93, has accepted a position with Hawaiian Airlines as Senior Director of Market Planning. Damon, his wife Jennifer, and their four children relocated to Honolulu this fall.

James Van Geffen, BBA 93, and his wife Jill had their first child, McKenzie Beth, in February.

Chris Brickler, BBA 94, is the new executive vice president of marketing and business development at Aperian. He previously worked for Concert Communications Co.

Kendra Hundl Kathman, BBA 94, married last October. She’s a senior sales associate with KLA-Tencor and recently relocated back to Austin.

Liza Stavchansky de Lewis, BBA 95, recently earned her PhD and moved to Florham Park, NJ to work as a consultant at Schering Plough Labs.

Vikram Desai, BBA 97, recently left Compaq Compter Corp for the Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group in Palo Alto, CA. Vikram works in mergers and acquisitions.

Richard Rafferty, BBA 98, has transferred to the Austin office 
of Haynes and Boone LLP, from Dallas.

Brandon James, BBA 99, got married in July.

Tiffany Myers, BBA 00, married Jay Walker (BS 99) in July in Lubbock, TX. They met Tiffany’s first week at UT in August 1995.
