Ursula Y. Alvarado, BBA 90, completed her Ph.D. in marketing at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Business in June 1999. She is currently teaching marketing at Texas A&M.

James Arnold, BBA 91, is the new Vice President and Executive Director of the Covenant Foundation.

April C. Barbee, BBA 93, married Charles E. Baker in October, 1999 in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Brian Bottorff, BBA 86, is President of startup PACKUSA.com, an international distributor of packaging supplies and equipment in Tampa, Florida.

Karl Joseph Braun, BBA 89, is Manager of Nuova Autoparti in Italy, dealing with such companies as Locas, Boxch and Nipparts.

John H. Cole, BBA 75, has been promoted to Vice President of Military Systems Operations in the Motorola Integrated Systems Division. He joined Motorola in 1984 as a manufacturing project leader, and since that time has held a number of positions engaged in providing products and systems within the defense sector.

Kent Ellert, BBA 85, has been promoted to Regional President of First Union National Bank in Jacksonville, Florida. His community services includes the St. Vincent's Foundation Board, the Board of Governors Alliance for World Class Education, the Jacksonville University Business Council, and Vice Chairman of Membership and Development for the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.

Jeff Ferguson, BBA 93, was recently promoted to Manager with Arthur Andersen's Business Consulting practice in Dallas.

Cynthia A. Galvan, BBA 87, was elected partner in the law firm of Brown, Sims, P.C. in January.

Ernest C. Garcia, BBA 81, JD 84, served from 1991 to 1998 as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and in January, 1999 was appointed by Texas Governor George W. Bush to serve as the State District Judge of the 126th Judicial District Court in Austin. He will seek election in 2000 to serve the 2001-2004 term.

Marc H. Grossfeld, BBA 98, married Ashley L. Eltis, BBA 98.

Tammy O. Hardge, BBA 86, was promoted to Counsel Employee Relations for the Flight Group at American Airlines.

Jap Hartono, BBA 92, married Santy Muljawan in December. He recently joined ABN AMRO Bank working as Assistant Vice President of Local Corporate Banking. The couple lives in Indonesia.

Mark Holifield, BBA 77, is now Sr. Vice President-Supply Chain Management of Office Depot, Inc. at the corporate office in Delray Beach, Florida.

Allen Holland, BBA 91, is CEO of the T3 Holland Group, which provides contacts to the European Internet world, invests in Web-based companies, and introduces American products of all types to Europe.

Alice Hu, BBA 96, co-authored an article on valuing dot.com companies that appeared in the January 2000 issue of the McKinsey Quarterly.

Bernard J. Hughes, BBA 76, is a headhunter in the Austin area. He has worked at Touche Ross and Robert Half, and also spent three years teaching high school.

Susan D. Keeble, BBA 85, was recently promoted to Vice President of Human Resources at Cimarron, Inc. Cimarron provides clients with hardware and software engineering solutions.

Edward H. Krause, Jr., BBA 75, was in September 1998 named Vice President-Finance, Administration and Controller of Marathon Canada Limited, a newly formed wholly owned foreign subsidiary of Marathon Oil Company.

Stephen Lipkin, BBA 82, has recently taken a position with SAMCO Capital Markets as a Managing Director in its Investment Banking Division.

Michael B. Long, BBA 77, recently accepted the position of materials manager with Skyline Electronics. He and his wife welcomed their second child, Anna Long, last year. His company is looking for good candidates for electronic commodity buyers.

Matthew Mabry, BBA 97, was promoted to International ISP Direct Product Manager with GTE Internetworking (formerly BBN) in Boston, Massachusetts.

Brent W. Mellow, BBA 87, is Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Cienna.com, an Internet portal for the high-end furniture industry that will launch in April 2000. Prior to co-founding Cienna, Brent was a Managing Director at Banc of America Securities LLC where he was engaged in capital raising for technology companies in the Northeastern US and Texas. Brent and his wife live in Dallas and have one daughter, Hannah, age two.

Chris Novak, BBA 96, is moving from Tampa, Florida to become Territory Manager in Philadelphia for Michelin Americas Truck Tires.

Doug Patteson, BBA 88, recently moved from Tokyo, Japan to Philadelphia with his wife Susan and two children, Beau and Callie. Doug is in the MBA program at the Wharton School of Business, and is also a general partner in University Clothiers and a cofounder of Lenticular Alpine Designs.

Beverly (Chesson) Rosson, BBA 63, has two daughters, Stephanie Ann and Suzan Lynn.

Nathan Sax, BBA 80, is part of the new pension group at Lucent.

Jan DeCoux Sutherlin, BBA 77, has joined Tatum CFO Partners as a Partner. Tatum is a professional services firm offering CFO services on a project, shared, or full time, on a temporary of permanent basis.

Edward Tonkon II, BBA 78, was recently promoted to President and General Manager of Washington Inventory Service in San Diego. He was previously President and General Manager of another Huffy Corporation company, Huffy Service First, in Dayton, Ohio.

Timothy Lee Tucker, BBA 83, recently purchased Air Engineering, Inc. Founded in 1962, the company is the world's oldest and largest supplier of industrial air and gas compressor replacement parts. The company supplies directly to the end user, the world's larger manufacturing facilities and pipeline companies.

Michell J. Velasquez, BBA 93, gave birth to her first child, Gabrielle Reyce Rosas, on September 18, 1999.

Tim Verinder, BBA 97, has been named Branch Manager of Texas Homeplace Mortgage Company's newest office in Jonestown/Lago Vista, Texas.

Joseph A. Weaks, BBA 93, obtained a Master of Divinity after graduating UT, was ordained, and was a pastor for three years. He is now working on a PhD in Biblical Studies at TCU.

Jean Zimmermann, BBA 79, is owner and catering manager of Opening Night Catering in Pittsburgh, a leader in corporate and residential catering known for its innovation and great food.
