Joe Ben Walker, BBA ’68, retired as a plant revenue accountant for Sun Oil Co. and from singing for Highland Park Presbyterian Church Choir in Dallas and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Recently, he was reinstalled for the tenth term as treasurer of Chapter No. 230c order of the Eastern Star in Fort Stockton. Joe also plays piano and writes songs, which he performs around town.

Frank E. Roberts, BBA ’71, published his first book, The American Foreign Legion: Black Soldiers of the 93D in World War I, in July 2004. The book is an in-depth look at the U.S. Army’s policy of racial segregation in its divisions during World War I and the respect African Americans earned from the French and Germans after several battlefield successes. Roberts tells the story of black men from the 93d Division for the first time and describes their victory in overcoming low expectations in combat.

Stephen C. Gay, BBA ’79, recently received a promotion to captain at American West Airlines. He flies the Airbus A319/320 aircraft.

Thomas Tunstall, BBA ’79, worked on economic development on official registries and documents for the Transitional Government of Afghanistan. He spent six months in Kabul in 2003 and conducted work in
the Ministry of Finance on behalf of USAID and World Bank donors.

Brian S. Specht, BBA ’88, was appointed president of Eustis Insurance & Benefits-Texas. Brian joined Eustis with 16 years of experience as an executive in charge of underwriting at AIG and Chubb. He has served on the advisory board for the Texas Exes Business Network and the MIT Enterprise Forum. He and his family live in West University Place.

Karl Braun, BBA ’89, has worked for Stars and Stripes, an American newspaper in Frankfurt, Germany, for the last two and a half years. The newspaper is delivered to all U.S. military troops and the Department of Defense civilians. He is the supervisory accountant in finance and accounting.

James E. Garza, BBA ’89, relocated to the Houston area to start his own medical practice, Calder Urgent Care in League City, TX.

Mitch Smith, BBA ’89 (BHP), settled down in Potomac, MD with his wife and three boys. He runs the NE division of On the Go Hosiery, a full-line hosiery manufacturer and distributor. His brother, Tony Smith (BBA ’85, MBA ’87) runs the other divisions from Atlanta.

Randall Pincu, BBA ’90, recently became director of accounting for Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. in Irving. Nexstar is a television broadcasting company that owns and operates 26 stations throughout the U.S.

Carrie Thomas, BBA ’90 recently moved to BearingPoint in Austin as manager.

Andrea Levin, BBA ’93 (BHP), married Richard Kim in May 2004.

Sean Mast, BBA ’93 (BHP), returned to Austin after several years of consulting work with McKinsey and BCG. He has recently returned from a two-year trek around the world and is currently considering job opportunities in and around the Austin area.

Quang D. Bui, BBA ’96, just finished his family practice residency in Houston and is partnering with Southwest Doctors. He serves patients at Memorial Hermann Southwest and Memorial Hermann Southeast along with those in his six Houston clinics.

Heather (Luby) Bonfield, BBA ’98, now owns Patsy’s, a bridal boutique in Highland Park, Texas, which opened in 1990. Heather transitioned to her new career as a small business owner from the world of corporate healthcare.

Brian Driesse, BBA ’99 (BHP), decided to leave a great job with Coremetrics and pursue his MBA at the Kellogg School of Management this fall.

Nandu Madhava, BBA ’99 (BHP), began attending Harvard Business School this fall. If any BHP’ers will be in Boston this winter, he would like to extend an invitation for frozen margaritas, Texas style.

Andrew Allemann, BBA ’00 (BHP), accepted a new job as an associate director at SBC Knowledge Ventures, an intellectual property commercialization subsidiary of SBC.

Ramesh Dhanaraj, BBA ’00 (BHP), made the switch from investment banking to private equity in June when he took a position at GESD Capital Partners in San Francisco.

Ankur Ghia, BBA ’00 (BHP), attends Wharton’s MBA Program starting this fall.

Jared Heyman, BBA ’00 (BHP), relocated his company, Infosurv, Inc., to Atlanta from Dallas.

Elliot Oshman, BBA ’00 (BHP), moved from Dallas to Denver and is still with Hitachi Consulting.

Mary Ellen Smith, BBA ’00 (BHP), graduated from the SMU Dedman School of Law in May 2003 and was admitted to the Texas Bar in November 2003. She now practices business and commercial litigation with a small firm in Dallas.
Rita Aramburo, BBA ’01 (BHP), has been trading power at ConocoPhillips for the past two years and started her MBA at Harvard this fall.

Brad Garrison , BBA ’01 (BHP), attends Wharton’s MBA Program starting this fall.

Jennifer Kern, BBA ’01 (BHP), began the part-time MBA program at University of Maryland Smith School of Business this fall. She also works full-time at the U.S. Census Bureau as a computer analyst.

Kathryn Kmiecik Vernau, BBA ’01 (BHP), married George Vernau, Jr. in June 2003. She is currently an associate at Huron Consulting Group in Houston after almost a year at Andersen.

Alex Alexandrov, BBA ’02 (BHP), moved to Boston in July and will be working at Thomas H. Lee Partners.

Tanmay Desai, BBA ’02 (BHP), moved to Seoul, Korea with Bain & Co.

Charles Grim, BBA ’02 (BHP), happily reports that he is single, disease-free, with no dependants listed on his tax-return. He recently transferred from the Houston office to the Paris office within Merrill Lynch’s Investment Banking department.

Vikas Kalra, BBA ’02 (BHP), still enjoys his work at Bain & Co.

Carly Kaufman, BBA ’02 (BHP), changed jobs last October, moving from Quorum Business Solutions to Accenture in Dallas.

Will Koenig, BBA ’02, works as a project assistant in the Austin office of the Fulbright and Jaworski law firm and will be starting a marketing internship with the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin.

Brian Moskal, BBA ’02 (BHP), started a new internship this summer at Bingham McCutchen LLP, a law firm in downtown Los Angeles.

Kristen Schroeder, BBA ’02 (BHP), moved to Boston in July and works for Goldman Sachs in the private wealth management group.

Leslie Johns Sincler, BBA ’02 (BHP), married Page Sincler in October 2003 in Houston. BHP Alums Martin Thornthwaite and Aabir Malik attended
the wedding.

Summit Walia, BBA ’02 (BHP), began working at JP Morgan’s Real Estate Group in Los Angeles in September.
