Sidney H. Smith, III, BBA 61, was named the Better Business Bureau's 1998 Arbitrator of the Year. Sid has served as a BBB arbitrator for several years and also serves as a mediator for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and as an arbitrator for the National Center for Dispute Settlement.
Gary A. Williams, BBA 72, president and CEO of The Harbour Group, Inc., has been appointed Chairman of the Board. Williams co-founded The Harbour Group in 1996. He is a member of the University of Texas Information Systems Advisory Council.
Michael P. Warren, BBA 73, has been elected a Shareholder in the Law Firm of Davidson & Troilo, P. C. and has relocated to the Firm's Austin office.
Ray Wilkins, BBA 74, has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, overseeing the company's more than 16 million access lines, providing basic and advanced communications services to more than 14 million customers in five states, including Texas.
Charles Geraci, BBA 75, has been recognized and approved as a Registered Investment Advisor by the State Securities Board of Texas.
Jim Bushee, BBA 76, returned to the Washington, D.C. office of Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan after seven years with FDIC.
Quentin Burchill, BBA 83, has become the manager for the Accounting/Finance practice of Management Recruiters in Rochester Hills, MI.
John Brittain, BBA 88, has been promoted to Partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
Darin Winn, BBA 88, has been promoted to Principal at American Capital.
Maria Carmen Nonay Vela, BBA 91, was recently appointed to manage the European Outreach Program of MIGA-World Bank Group in Paris and Frankfurt.
Brendon Unland, BBA 93, and his wife Brynn own Dallas Technology Group, which was ranked as the Number 4 fastest growing high-tech firm in the DFW Metroplex in 1998 by the Dallas Business Journal.
