Global Moot Corp® Winners
to Open NASDAQ Stock Market
Winners of the 2007
Global Moot Corp
Competition hosted by The University of Texas at Austin will
open the NASDAQ stock market Friday, Aug. 10 in New York City at
9:30 a.m. EDT.
Rob Adams, director of the Moot Corp program and management lecturer
at the McCombs School of Business, will do the honors along with the
Omega Sensors team from San Diego State University. Omega Sensors
won a $100,000 prize package after being named the Global Moot Corp
Champion last May 5.
Omega Sensors
has a patented an optical displacement sensing technique for use
in accelerometers, gyroscopes, pressure sensors, temperature sensors
and magnetometers. Team members are Brad Chisum and Nick Rhea and
Alex DeNoble is the faculty adviser.
"The national exposure of opening the NASDAQ further enhances the
reputation of the winner and adds tremendously to the excitement of
being named the global champion,” Adams said.
Started at The University of Texas at Austin by Master of Business
Administration (MBA) students in 1984, the Moot Corp competition is
the oldest and largest new venture competition in the world, and it
provides MBA student teams with a chance to simulate the process of
raising venture capital. This year, 35 teams from universities
around the world traveled to Austin for the competition.
The ceremony will be carried live
online by NASDAQ (MarketSite Live Webcam, bottom of the page,
9:25 a.m. EDT, Windows Media Player required). On television,
NASDAQ’s opening is carried on CNBC, Bloomberg and CNNfn.
