MOOT CORP® Announces
New Director: Seasoned Entrepreneur to Run Program
AUSTIN, Texas--The MOOT CORP® program at the University of
Texas at Austin’s McCombs Business School is now under new
leadership. Rob Adams, management lecturer, was appointed the
director of MOOT CORP® replacing Dr. Gary Cadenhead, senior
management and accounting lecturer.
Adams has been involved with MOOT CORP® since 2000, acting as a
judge in the finals of both the Texas and Global MOOT CORP®
competitions. He has also served on the MOOT CORP® Advisory
Board since its formation. Following an 18-year career as a
technology executive, in 2004, Adams founded Tejas Venture
Partners, an early stage venture capital firm in Austin, and
currently serves as general partner. Prior to launching Tejas,
he founded AV Labs in 1999, an early stage venture fund allied
with Austin Ventures.
“I cannot imagine a more qualified person to take over the
leadership of the MOOT CORP program,” Cadenhead said. “In
addition to being an outstanding teacher, Rob has been both a
successful entrepreneur and venture capitalist. And, he is
intimately familiar with the MOOT CORP® competition.”
Cadenhead was MOOT CORP® director for 13 years and will continue
to be involved with the program as president of the MOOT CORP®
Pontoon Fund, an entity that invests $100,000 in the winners of
both the Texas and Global Competitions. He will also serve on
the boards of the investment recipients.
MOOT CORP® was the first competition of its kind focused on
entrepreneurship, and is the oldest operating business school
new venture competition in the world. The competition was
conceived at The University of Texas at Austin by MBA students
in 1984. Under the leadership of Cadenhead, the competition has
grown from a business plan competition to a launch pad for new
ventures. It has also introduced Global MOOT CORP®, and today,
universities from all populated continents participate in the
competition. For more information on the contest visit
