Austin, TX – A national Hispanic group made up of MBA graduates has named the McCombs School the top institution of higher learning for 2002.
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs has selected the University of Texas’ award winning business school as the winner of its Educational Institution Award. The society’s 4,800 members spread across 27 chapters around the country, represent the largest such group of Hispanic MBAs in the United States.
The “Brillante” award, Spanish for shining or bright, is the most prestigious of the society’s awards. It recognizes the educational effort aimed at fostering “Hispanic leadership through graduate education and professional development” to improve society and to remedy the lack of Hispanics in the executive suites and boardrooms of corporate America.
There are currently nearly 120 Hispanics enrolled in the various full-time MBA programs at McCombs, representing 15% of this year’s total MBAs. Those students are from all over the United States as well as from Mexico and Central and South American countries.
In a separate survey, Hispanic students have rated the McCombs School of Business as the No. 1 overall business school in the country, according to Hispanic Business Magazine.
