Jastrow to Receive Distinguished Alumnus Award from The University of Texas at Austin
AUSTIN—The Texas Exes will honor six alumni of The University of Texas at Austin who have distinguished themselves professionally and through service to the university with the Distinguished Alumnus Award at a ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at the LBJ Auditorium, 2313 Red River St.
Among those being honored is Kenneth M. Jastrow, II, of Austin, McCombs BBA '69 and MBA '71. Involved with Temple-Inland for over 26 years, Jastrow serves as chairman and CEO of the Austin-based Fortune 500 Company. With interests in paper, forest products and financial services, the $5 billion company is the seventh largest corporate landholder in the United States, owning more than 2 million acres of timberland.
Jastrow has also used his team-oriented leadership as a director of KB Home, Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation and American Forest & Paper Association. At the University he has chaired the Commission of 125, the Development Board, and the Advisory Council of the McCombs School of Business. He serves on President Larry Faulkner’s Executive Council.
A former chairman of the Texas Taxpayers & Research Association, Jastrow has received the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association Distinguished Service Award and the Boy Scouts of America (Midland, Texas) Distinguished Citizen Award. Additionally, he was inducted into the McCombs School of Business Hall of Fame in 2003. He is a Life Member of the Texas Exes.
