Legacy Events
Room Opens to McCombs Community
By Whitney Presley
The McCombs School held a reception Oct. 13 celebrating the
renovation of Classroom 2000 and its reopening as the
Legacy Events Room. The new space, located above the Hall of
Honors, will be
used for special events and meetings for student groups, recruiters,
alumni organizations, and faculty and staff.
The renovation was made possible through the fundraising efforts of
the MBA Class of 2004 and their Leave A Legacy campaign efforts.
During the reception, a plaque was unveiled containing names of
donors who contributed $1000 or more by August 31, 2006.

“As students at McCombs working through the recruitment process, we
had identified the need for a special events room partially
dedicated to corporate events,” said David Marye, co-chair of the
Leave A Legacy 2004 campaign. “The current room had been
underutilized, so this was a perfect opportunity to build a room
that would not only impress corporations and reflect well upon
McCombs, but also be useful to student, faculty and alumni
organizations.”

The 2004 campaign, co-chaired by David Marye and John Adams, set
giving records that year. The $128,509 made in total pledges and the
participation rate of 81 percent was the highest in Leave A Legacy
campaign history at that time. The campaign gifts were given in
honor of two members of the class of 2004, Will Looney and Greg
Prewoznik, who passed away while enrolled at the school.
“We were overwhelmed by the support,” Adams said. “Our classmates
really recognized that the cause was bigger than just a room. This
motivated them to give to McCombs in ways they might not have
before, engendering an immense response for the campaign.”
